MP1 2505On 13 April 2016, Centre for European Perspective organized the round table with the title “Migrations – Challenge that must be Addressed”, which is first one in the project financed by the Embassy of the United States in Ljubljana in the framework of the NGO Small Grant.

Executive Director of CEP, dr. Gorazd Justinek welcomed the guests and H. E. Ambassador Mr. Brent R. Hartley delivered the keynote remarks, who pointed out that we need to work together globally to save the migration issue. Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mag. Tomaž Lovrenčič, also welcomed all the guests and pointed out that this kind of discussions are very much needed. Mr. Jerry Kalarickal, Program officer for the Balkans at the U.S. Department of State, who delivered the impulse directly from the US, said that US position has always been on focusing on saving lives and protecting human rights of all migrants and that agreement reached between EU and Turkey is very important step towards the better solving of this problem.

Panel, where prof. dr. Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, president of EMUNI University, mag. David Brozina, Director General of the Directorate for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Nina Gregori, Director General of Administrative Internal affairs, Migration and Naturalization Directorate at the Ministry of Interior, participated, was moderated by Mr. Peter Grk, Secretary-General of the Bled Strategic Forum.

Fruitful discussion touching agreement between EU and Turkey, integration of refugees, common EU asylum system and security issues, concluded with promising idea – think Europe.

Migracije – izziv, ki ga je potrebno nasloviti

V sredo, 13. aprila 2016, je Center za evropsko prihodnost v sodelovanju z Veleposlaništvom Združenih držav Amerike v Ljubljani, organiziral okroglo mizo z naslovom “Migracije – izziv, ki ga je potrebno nasloviti”.

Dogodek je otvoril izvršni direktor CEP, dr. Gorazd Justinek, Njegova ekscelenca, veleposlanik Brent R. Hartley pa je kot osrednji govorec med drugim izpostavil, da moramo globalno gledano, sodelovati, v kolikor želimo rešiti migrantsko krizo. Zbrane je pozdravil tudi politični direktor Ministrstva za zunanje zadeve Republike Slovenije, mag. Tomaž Lovrenčič, ki je opozoril, da so takšne debate več kot nujne. Zbrane je nagovoril tudi Jerry Kalarickal, programski uradnik za Balkan na ameriškem State Deparmentu, ki je pojasnil, da je bila pozicija Združenih držav Amerike zmeraj osredotočena na reševanje življenj in varovanje človekovih pravic vseh migrantov. Opozoril pa je tudi, da je dogovor med EU in Turčijo pomemben korak v smeri boljšega reševanja migracijske krize.

Na panelu, ki ga je moderiral generalni sekretar Strateškega foruma Bled, g. Peter Grk, so sodelovali predsednik EMUNI univerze, prof. dr. Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, generali direktor Direktorata za zadeve EU na Ministrstvu za zunanje zadeve, mag. David Brozina ter generalna direktorica na Direktoratu za upravne notranje zadeve, migracije in naturalizacijo Ministrstva za notranje zadeve, ga. Nina Gregori.

Na diskusiji je bilo izpostavljeno sodelovanje tako na evropski, kot mednarodni ravni, dogovor med EU in Turčijo, vključevanje migrantov in beguncev v družbo, skupni evropski azilni sistem ter varnostna vprašanja.
