Today in Maribor an International Conference on Entrepreneurship and Innovation – PODIM started. PODIM is the largest start-up, entrepreneurial and innovation conference in the Alpe-Adria region. CEP has in cooperation with Ministry of Foreign Affairs enabled 50 young entrepreneurs from BiH and Kosovo to participate at the intensive programme for free, while they will also be able to meet with investors, supporters and various successful entrepreneurs.
Minister of Public Administration of Kosovo Mahir Yagcilar visited CEP to discuss future cooperation in the field of public administration reform in Kosovo. Slovenia will share their best practices with Kosovo counterparts in the field of establishment of the new salary system, reinforcement of accountability mechanisms, reduction of administrative barriers in administrative procedures and other areas.
CEP has a long and successful track record of development assistance projects for Kosovo in the last 10 years and strives to prepare tailor made projects based on the individual countries' requests and needs.

On Europe Day held on 9 May, we celebrate peace and unity in Europe. Europe Day is one of the important symbols of the European Union, adopted by the Council of European Union in Milan in 1986 and represents the celebration of the anniversary of the historical 'Schuman declaration'.
At a speech in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman, the then French foreign minister, set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between Europe’s nations unthinkable. His vision was to create a European institution that would pool and manage coal and steel production. A treaty creating European Coal and Steal Community was signed in 1951. Schuman’s proposal is considered to be the beginning of what is now the European Union.
Between 11th and 13th of May 2016, 50 young people, 30 from BiH and 20 from Kosovo, will participate at Podim conference in Maribor, as part of the training for young entrepreneurs. Participants were selected based on an application in which they presented their start-up, while a group of experts has assessed the originality of the idea and its presentation. 10 teams from BiH and 8 from Kosovo were chosen to participate.
The second part of the training for the representatives of Albanian local government units on the Preparation of EU and Other International Projects that was prepared within the framework of the International Development Cooperation of the Republic of Slovenia and in cooperation with the US Development Agency (USAID), has been concluded today, on 28 April.
In the framework of the International Development Cooperation of the Republic of Slovenia and in cooperation with the US development agency USAID, CEP will start with the implementation of the second four-day training workshop on 25 April for representatives of Albanian Municipalities and representatives of regional agencies in the preparation of European and other projects. The emphasis of the training will be on the preparation of projects at the local and regional level. The process of integration of Albania into the EU currently represents one of the most important challenge and a priority of Albania, furthermore local government has a special significance in the promotion of the principles and implementation of EU standards at the local level.
The Improving the Effectiveness of Capabilities in EU Conflict Prevention (IECEU) project analyses best practices and lessons learned in the field of EU conflict prevention and peace building capabilities. It searches for new ways of improving the EU crisis management activities by producing a catalogue of practices, new solutions and approaches.
Between 12th and 15th April, CEP has together with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) organized a seminar for Montenegrin public officials as a support to Montenegro joining NATO held in Podgorica.
On 13 April 2016, Centre for European Perspective organized the round table with the title “Migrations – Challenge that must be Addressed”, which is first one in the project financed by the Embassy of the United States in Ljubljana in the framework of the NGO Small Grant.
