medkulturni_izzivCentre for European Perspective (CEP) is preparing the project "Intercultural Challenge" which is planned in the framework of the cycle "Educational Reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina". The project starts in September 2009. Deadline for Proposal Submissions is 27 October 2009.

The main idea of the project is to mobilize the initiative of both teachers and students to stimulate cooperation among young people with different religious, cultural, ethnic and national backgrounds as well as among gymnasiums/high schools in BiH. By encouraging such cooperation we would try to overcome the diversion among ethnic lines, built in the education system of BiH and provide positive examples of multiethnic teamwork among young people.

The target group for our project are gymnasium/high school students in BiH as well as directors and teachers of these schools, who all have a key role in the realisation of the project.

In the first phase CEP will launch a competition for the best project proposal in the field of intercultural dialogue for gymnasium/high school students in BiH. The students should develop a project that would connect young people of different religious, cultural, ethnic or national backgrounds in BiH and promote understanding among them. Professors should be involved in the process as mentors. Deadline for Proposal Submissions is 27 October 2009.

In the second phase the creators of best project proposals together with their mentors and/or school directors will be invited to a 2-day trip to Mostar. There they will attend workshops on the topic of intercultural dialogue and at the special ceremony the award will be conferred to the winning team. The award is sponsored by the Education First (EF) language school (www.ef.com) and includes a 2-week language course with homestay twin in an EU member state as well as enrolment fees for the winning team. The third phase of the project represents the implementation of the winning project in 2010 by CEP.

The Centre for European Perspective (CEP) is organising the project in cooperation with the Education First (EF) language school (www.ef.com) and UWC-IB Initiative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (www.uwc-ibo.org).
