Center for European perspective (CEP) hosts Training of consular agents from Bosnia and Herzegovina on the introduction of biometric passports. Two-day training has been organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia in cooperation with the Center for European Perspective. The training programme is about Slovenia assisting Bosnia and Herzegovina in meeting the standards for visa liberalization.Introduction of biometric passports is one of the criteria for visa liberalization. On 15th July 2009 the European Commission published a report, according to which all countries of European Union would abolish visa requirements for Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, on the basis of compliance with the criteria from the signposts for visa liberalization.
Bosnia and Herzegovina still does not meet the criteria from the signposts. Therefore, Slovenia has expressed its willigness to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina with a team of experts in fulfilling the remaining obligations, which would allow this country as well as Albania to be included in the visa-free regime by mid next year. CEP is preparing a training on visa liberalization also for the Republic of Serbia.
Training for the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be conducted by the representatives of the Ministries of Foreign and Home Affairs and will be participated by more than 20 consular employees of the Embassies of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Zagreb, Brussels, Milan, Bern and Ljubljana, and members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Agency for Identification Documents and Data Exchange of BiH (IDDEEA).
For BiH at the moment CEP is preparing a project entitled Intercultural challenge, which includes competition for the best project proposal regarding intercultural dialogue for students of high schools in the country. Students will develop a project which will connect youth of distinct religious, cultural, ethnical and national origin in Bosnia and Herzegovina and thus encourage mutual understanding. The professors will be involved in the process as mentors. The project is part of the cycle Slovenian good practice for education reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the context of which CEP has already conducted a seminar for the school headmasters of Bosnia and Herzegovina, entitled Intercultural dialogue in education, as well as study visit of Education Ministers and headmasters of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Slovenia.
In 2008 CEP organized a seminar Police reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina - reform of the security sector in stabilization and association process. Bosnia and Herzegovina is involved in various regional projects of the CEP and CEP itself also cooperates with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
