On Tuesday in Ohrid started the 3rd module of the training project "EU Negotiations: Techniques, Skills and Content" organized by the Centre for European Perspective in cooperation with the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia. This 3rd module is a continuation of the training module entitled "Negotiating with the European Union" and aims to further improve the effective presentation of Macedonian stands in the process of EU negotiations taking into account negotiation techniques and public speaking skills in the chapter of taxation.
Training was opened by Andreja Dolničar Jeraj, programme director of the Centre for European Perspective, and Zlatko Veterovski, Head of Training Unit at Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia. Firstly, Dolničar Jeraj shortly presented CEP as the official provider of Slovene assistance which is mainly directed towards Western Balkans countries on their way towards the EU. She exposed that CEP always organizes practical, tailor-made and demand driver trainings. After that Dolničar Jeraj explained the training aims towards improving the Macedonian capabilities in negotiating on the example of the excise duties and which will pace the process once the negotiations start by preparing experts that will be involved. Furthermore, she outlined the high successfulness of the 2nd module which brought the co-financing from the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia through EU programme of pre-accession assistance IPA. Veterovski also emphasized the importance of the 2nd module due to the fact that the trainees effectively transferred gained knowledge and skills from the 2nd module into practice at their work.
After the official opening the training started with the lessons learned from the earlier module in May 2010. In the following days training will continue with workshops on EU negotiation processes in the field of taxation and a simulation of a press conference with presentations of the results of the simulation of bilateral screening. Training will conclude on Saturday, 16 October 2010.
