Slovenian ambassador in Albania Bojan Bertoncelj today solemnly turned over donation of the Republic of Slovenia as an aid to the Library of the Polytechnic University of Tirana. The donation was attached to the project "Assistance for scientific enforcement of the Republic of Albania" of the Centre for European Perspective (CEP).
Project within the scope of Slovenian International Development Cooperation was under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' initiative prepared by CEP with cooperation of Faculty in Tirana and Albanian Embassy in Ljubljana. Project's goal was to improve accessibility of the literature to professors, students and persons occupied to the field of maths and technical sciences, and to strengthen capabilities for scientific enforcement of the Republic of Albania.
The donation includes 150 specialised items of professional literature in the value of 14.000 Euros. The donation supplements last year's accomplished project called "Role of Libraries in Knowledge Database" (with a focus on the South-East Europe) carried out by Institute of Information Science in Maribor within the framework of Cobiss.net.
The donation solemnity was attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Albania Nora Malaj, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Tirana Academe Jorgaq Kaçani, Dean of Faculty of Maths and Technical Sciences in Tirana Prof. Dr. Shpëtim Leka, Deputy Rector, professors, representatives of other Faculties, students and Albanian Ambassador in Ljubljana Dr. Sander Kovaçi. The solemnity was also accompanied by Albanian media and TV.
