20120511-02In the scope of the project "European Affairs Training for Public Administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina" second module titled "General Course on European Affairs" refined. Understanding of the European Union (EU) and its institutions, law, processes and politics in BiH is very poor. Due to this fact on the request of Direction for European Integration and Council of Ministers of BiH, Centre for European Perspective (CEP) in cooperation with Embassy of Republic of Slovenia in BiH and Delegation of European Union in Sarajevo, prepared a training project on European Affairs for Public Administration in BiH.

First stage of the project was dedicated to the training of instructors that will provide public administration employees of BiH with knowledge on general and specific themes of the EU. In cooperation with the Directorate for European Integration of BiH a contest was organized, in which twelve speakers from BiH were selected.

The first module, which took place between 10 May and 12 May, the future instructors were trained about techniques and skills of carrying out the EU lecture topics. Miran Morano, a renowned Slovenian lecturer and training instructor in the areas of leadership, communication and public speaking skills, marked the group as very dynamic and highly motivated.

In the second module that took place between 31 May and 2 June, the future instructors learned about the functioning of the institutions of the European Union after the Lisbon Treaty, as well as practical aspects of the European institutions. The trainer was a Slovenian diplomat David Brozina, who has wide-ranging experience in the negotiation process of the Republic of Slovenia and the functioning of European institutions. Both modules were organized in the BiH Parliament. Finishing point of the second module was accompanied by a reception at the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia Andrei Grasselli. The Ambassador stressed that such cooperation is the cornerstone of the future integration of BiH with the EU and other European institutions. Slovenia in this regard supported the efforts on education of the Directorate for European Integration and other institutions across the EU.

The project will this year continue with two specialized modules for the BiH civil servants groups from the agriculture and environmental policies.
