bf-logoThe sixth Bled Strategic Forum 2011 is approaching rapidly. Forum, that is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and the Centre for European Perspective will take place on 9 and 10 September 2011 at Bled. For the sixth consecutive year, the gathering of statesmen, politicians, business people and various experts who deal with the future strategic challenges will address power shifts in the international arena, including relations between states and economic relations, with an emphasis on the emerging economies.

The discussion panels will address a wide array of topics, focusing on new players, especially the BRIC countries, on European challenges in the Mediterranean, EU-China relations, Afghanistan, the future of energy, challenges and perspectives in the Western Balkans, the role of small states in global affairs, as well as food security and the role of innovation in economy. The Forum will thus remain centred around regional and global topics. This year, an important innovation has been introduced to the Bled Strategic Forum – the Young BSF, which aims to attract a younger audience, i.e. future decision-makers.

Participation has already been confirmed by the foreign ministers of Chile, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein and Serbia, Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media, Igor Olegovich Shchegolev, the new Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Dr Nabil Al-Araby, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr Thorbjørn Jagland, and the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Dr Francis Gurry.
