Centre for European Perspective (CEP) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Budapest presented books from the book series "Studia diplomatica Slovenica" at the Andrássy Gyula University in Budapest.The presentation was opened by the University Principal Dr. András Masát who pointed out the uniqueness of the series "Studia diplomatica Slovenica" in the area of Central and South East Europe. He welcomed the efforts of the Slovenian diplomatic history researchers and said he was pleased that the book series was also presented to the Hungarian public.
In her opening speech the Slovenian Ambassador in Hungary Darja Bavdaž Kuret drew attention to the importance of the diplomatic history research, as it contributes fundamentally to the identity of the state. She also advocated the connecting of similar Slovenian and Hungarian institutions in this thematic area.
The CEP Secretary General Andrej Vrčon then presented work of the Centre for European Perspective and goals of the CEP Project Group for the Research of the Diplomatic History of the Central and South East Europe.
The main speaker, Dr. Andrej Rahten described key activities of the Slovenian diplomats in multinational state frameworks, from Habsburg monarchy to "King's Yugoslavia" and socialist Yugoslavia. At this occasion, new book from the series "Studia diplomatica Slovenica", biography of Izidor Cankar as the "diplomat of two Yugoslavias", was presented to the international public for the first time.
Besides interested expert and academic public, the presentation was also attended by many Slovenians living in Budapest.
