Napotitve_otvoritevToday the first training for civil servants for EU Civilian Crisis Management Missions organized in Slovenia started at CEP. An intensive 14-day training will equip participants with a comprehensive knowledge and skills needed to be seconded to the civilian missions. The training will take place at CEP and Police Training Centre in Gotenica between 8 and 21 November 2010.

Program director of CEP Andreja Dolničar Jeraj opened the training by emphasising that the training will follow the EU standardized agenda for the core course and will be conducted in a very practical manner. Workshops, role playing, simulations and case studies will be the main methods used by trainers during the training.

She welcomed all the participants that are coming from Slovenia, United Kingdom and Ireland. Their different fields of expertise that are needed in the crisis management missions will help Slovenia to diversify professions of persons seconded to the missions, she said.

Dolničar Jeraj expressed great gratitude to all partners that generously support CEP training – Slovene Police that provides 6 trainers with very valuable first hand experience from the missions, Ministry of Internal affairs of Finland and its representative Antti Haikio for overall support during the preparation and conduct of the training as well as EULEX mission in Kosovo, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and Centre for International Peace Operations (ZIF).

A comprehensive and EU standardized training (according to the standard curricula outline as stated in the Council document 16849/2006) will provide trainees with knowledge in the fields of crisis prevention and management, roles of other actors on the ground (e.g. UN, OSCE, COE, NGOs etc.), mission working environment, field work techniques (project management, monitoring, reporting etc.), hazards on the ground, personal health, stress management and more. The Core course is aimed to train the participants for concrete and professional work in the mission through the context of the mandates and rules of the EU civilian crisis management.
