"In European Union the civilian crisis management is an important part of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP)," stressed Štrukelj. He further emphasized that CFSP has helped stabilizing the regions that have suffered military conflicts or other disasters and could not establish functional governments and become part of the international community.
He added that there are many challenges that lie very close to us, especially when we are talking about Western Balkans. The two biggest challenges in the region for Slovenia are Kosovo and Bosnia. According to Šturkelj, situation in these countries influences directly also our society, our economic development and many aspects of our social life. "We have a duty as Slovenia to engage more in these areas," he said. He stressed that having a team of civil servants capable of handling complex and sometimes even dangerous situations is very important and will definitely contribute to Slovenian engagement in the region.
He congratulated the Centre for European Perspective, Slovenian Police and all other actors who have contributed to the training for their excellent work and wished that the work in civilian crisis management traings will continue.
Certificates of Appreciations signed by three ministers were awarded also to all trainers for their extraordinary contribution to the training.
