kosovo9The two day training on Export Control of Dual-Use Goods started today in Pristina. 21 Kosovo Customs officers from different units of Kosovo Customs Administration are attending the training conducted by Slovene experts on Dual-Use Goods. "Slovenian experiences are very valuable for us, specially as efficient Customs is an important pillar of the Public Administration," stressed Minister of Public Administration of the Republic of Kosovo Edita Tahiri.

In her speech Minister Tahiri thanked CEP for extensive cooperation and support at building professional, efficient and impartial Public Administration of Kosovo. She expressed hope that cooperation will continue and strengthen as Slovenian experiences are very valuable at a time when Kosovo opened a Stabilization and Association process dialogue with the EU.

CEP Programme Director Andreja Dolničar Jeraj presented CEP and its activities. She stressed the importance of cooperation between CEP and Customs Administration of Kosovo since CEP has been focusing its activities on law enforcement agencies in the countries of the Western Balkans.

The main purpose of the training is to present an overview of the role and tasks of the Customs Administration in the implementation of export control, information flow inside the Customs Administration and between Customs Administration and other governmental authorities and the basic definition of the dual-use goods. The structure of the list of the dual-use goods, classifying methods, most frequent irregularities and risk indicators as well as possible sanctions are also to be presented. Theoretical knowledge will be practiced through concrete examples of export control from Slovenia and Kosovo.

Slovene customs experts that are conducting the training are Matjaž Murovec and Mario Pajk from the General Customs Directorate, Customs Administration of the Republic of Slovenia. The training entitled Export control on Dual-Use Goods is taking place on 21st and 22nd December 2010 in Pristina.
