On Tuesday a two-day workshop on "Creating an Ethical Work Environment" successfully ended in Belgrade, Serbia. The project was prepared by the Centre for European Perspective (CEP) in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia and Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia, which has requested the training in the framework of Slovenia's International Development Cooperation. The training was the third activity in line of trainings and workshops CEP organized for Serbian police and was designed for executive police officials.
The training was opened by Andreja Dolničar Jeraj, Programme Director of CEP and Božidar Pendić, Assistant to the Head of Border Police Division who agreed that the training is highly relevant for representatives of Serbian Border Police in order to exchange views and experience with Slovenian colleagues. The program was designed in a practical manner and required a high level of interaction of all the participants.
Dr Tatjana Dragović, acknowledged trainer of management and motivation from United Kingdom conducted workshops on four groups of skills of leading and understanding of strategic communication and motivation at work. Workshops were combined with practical cases by Branko Novak from the Police Academy of the Republic of Slovenia and Anton Štubljar from the Novo Mesto Police Directorate. They focused on communication and motivation, communication skills and nonverbal communication, strategic thinking and its role in sustaining motivation on a high level, system thinking and its role for boosting ethical work and working environment, personal skills of the leader/manager, communication flow and integrity. Trainees have through workshops come to important conclusions that will be of great help in their work with the aim of creating an ethical work environment. They furthermore presented their views on possibilities for implementing the acquired knowledge in their daily work.
At the conclusion of a successfully implemented two-day training and certificate award ceremony the CEP Programme Director, Andreja Dolničar Jeraj stressed that the training presents an important step towards the strengthening of capacities for creating an ethical work environment in Serbian police and will further enhance the Serbian efforts to join the European community. Nebojša Purić, Deputy Chief of Border Division highlighted the importance of the training and its fresh and new approach to the topic whereas Jelena Lubarda from the Bureau for International Cooperation and EU Integration said she appreciated to hear that participants highly praised the training and the interaction among the Serbian participants and Slovenian trainers and looked forward to future trainings that will be conducted in 2011 and 2012.
The project will continue in October 2011 with the module for traffic police.
