gotenica_day1The Centre for European Perspective together with Slovenian Ministry of Interior/Police, its key partner, started conducting the second Core Course for civil servants to be seconded to international civilian missions, at the Police Training Centre in Gotenica, today. A comprehensive and EU standardized course (according to the standard curricula outline as stated in the Council document 16849/2006) is designed to enable the civil servants to acquire the knowledge and skills in the field of crisis prevention and management, roles of other actors on the ground (e.g. UN, OSCE, COE, NGOs etc.), mission working environment, field work techniques (project management, monitoring, reporting etc.), hazards on the ground, personal health, stress management and more. The Core Course is aimed to train the participants for concrete and professional work in the mission through the context of mission mandates and rules of the EU civilian crisis management. The Core Course will end on 19 November 2011.

Programme director of CEP Andreja Dolničar Jeraj opened the training by emphasizing that the training will follow the EU standardized curriculum and stated the Course Course will be hands-on with interactive methods such as workshops, role playing, simulations and case studies being used throughout the training.

CEP team welcomed all eleven participants, nine who are coming from Slovenia and two from Hungary. Dolničar Jeraj expressed gratitude to all partners – naimly, Slovene Police that provides 5 trainers, OSCE Bosnia and Herzegovina and EULEX mission in Kosovo - for overall support during the preparation and conduct of the Course. During the training a total of 25 trainers, 7 international and 18 Slovene, will share their knowledge and mission experience with the participants.
