The four days pre-deployment training course Kosovo finished today with a comprehensive role play simulation situated in the Kosovo North environment.
The training equipped 22 participants from 11 countries (Slovenia, Romania, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Italy, United Kingdom, Finland, Lithuania, Austria, Slovakia and Australia) with the essential knowledge and information necessary to be active mission and team members and to operate smoothly in the respective area of assignment in Kosovo.
The course was implemented in a participant-active way, drawing on participants' professional experience, situating it in the Kosovo context. Trainees, mostly selected to be deployed within EULEX mission took part in the interactive lectures and exercises, covering three modules: Introduction to Civilian Crisis management of the EU, EULEX profile and Kosovo profile. Participants have therefore learned about the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), Kosovo historical and political overview, Kosovo multicultural environment, EULEX approach and components, other missions and organizations in Kosovo (EU family, UN family, ICO, OSCE, KFOR, etc.). Overall 13 trainers from Slovenia, Hungary, Belgium, Serbia, Kosovo, European External Action Service, UNDP Kosovo, EULEX, KFOR and OSCE Kosovo took part in the training.
Participants were awarded the final certificates by Ambassador Mitja Štrukelj, acting Director-General of directorate for international development cooperation and humanitarian assistance at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
The project was organized at Jable Castle by the Centre for European Perspective (CEP) with great support by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia and in the framework of the Europe's New Training Initiative for Civilian Crisis Management (ENTRi), which is funded by the European Commission (80%) and co-funded by its 13 implementing partners.
