Between 4 and 8 September 2012 CEP conducted, together with a representative of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia an Impact Evaluation of the previous trainings and study visit for the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia, more specifically, for Serbian Border Police.
In the framework of the project "Towards Excellence in Police: Creating a Positive Working Environment for High Quality and Professional Work", CEP has conducted two trainings and one study visit for Serbian border police since 2009. More than 22 high ranking officials managing police border stations and representatives of the border police administration took part in those activities, where focus was given on practical issues of leadership skills, work organisation and communication, as well as the management role in sustaining motivation, quality and professionalism on a high level. During the study visit, trainees could observe Slovenian colleagues at their daily activities, exchange their best practice and have through workshops come to important conclusions and set concrete goals they would strive to achieve at their daily work in their border police stations.
CEP wanted to assess the impact those activities have had on the organisation of daily actions and working environment at several police border stations. For that reason, the evaluation team visited four police border stations in the North and South of Serbia, where they checked the working conditions and disseminated questionnaires and conducted interviews with four police commanders and 41 police officers. The evaluation team checked which of the methods they gained knowledge of they included in their daily work and how they strive to improve the organisation of work and their working environment. They also checked whether they achieved the improvements guaranteed at the end of the study visit in May 2012.
CEP is currently preparing the Impact Evaluation Report, which will also contain concrete recommendations for their future work.
From 2009, CEP has conducted trainings also for criminal and traffic police of the Republic of Serbia and plans to continue with the good cooperation and development assistance for the Serbian Ministry of the Interior in the future.
