DSCN1611Centre for European Perspective is an active partner of Europe's New Training Initiative for Civilian Crisis Management (ENTRi). ENTRi is a unique capacity-building programme that was initiated in early 2011. The main focus lies on the preparation and training of civilians that are either going to, or already working in, crisis management missions worldwide. ENTRi is an initiative funded by the European Commission (90%) and co-funded by its 13 implementing partners under the lead of the Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF) in Berlin.

Trainers from 10 training institutions from all over the Europe, representatives of some EU missions (EULEX and EUMM), some ENTRi partners, such as CCCPA from Cairo, Danish, Swedish, Hungarian and Slovene police trainers will meet today at Jable Castle. Colleagues from United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) will share their expertise and experiences on training methodologies, techniques and skills.

So far, ENTRi has mainly focused on the development of course content and concepts based on agreed upon standards. There is a common understanding and sharing of best practices among the ENTRi partners regarding training methodologies and didactics. However, the consortium identified a clear need to provide more structured guidance with regard to applied methodologies in civilian crisis management training and to develop common didactical standards for trainers, resource persons and mission personnel dealing with training-related issues.

Training will finish on Thursday.
