cefta weekProgramme Director of the Centre for European Perspective (CEP) Andreja Dolničar Jeraj is attending events within »CEFTA Week« in Podgorica. A series of workshops, seminars and discussions are being held at the initiative of the Government of Montenegro as part of its CEFTA Chairmanship. Within the discussion on the projects supporting CEFTA activities, Mrs Dolničar Jeraj presented CEP work in this area.

In the beginning of October CEP in cooperation with Montenegrin CEFTA Chairmanship and CEFTA Secretariat organized a workshop on implementation and potential effects of SAP+ cumulation. The workshop was attended by legal and customs experts from EU, EFTA and Western Balkans, as well as decision-makers from ministries from Western Balkan countries, responsible for foreign economic relations. The project was a follow-up to the 2008 Istanbul seminar on movement of goods in the area of the EU, EFTA, Turkey and CEFTA, which was organized by CEP in December 2008 in Istanbul.

Workshops, seminars and discussions within »CEFTA Week« in Podgorica, present an opportunity to review a progress in implementation of CEFTA agreement and debate potential future developments. The events are designed to bring together government officials, the private sector, academics and the international community to discuss different aspects of CEFTA as a tool to improve regional trade, economic growth and competitiveness.

The events are being held on 27 and 28 October in Podgorica, immediately prior to the annual meeting of the CEFTA Joint Committee on 29 October.
