kitajciThe representatives of three eminent Chinese institutes, namely Institute of European Studies, Centre of EU Studies and Institute of Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies visited Centre for European Perspective (CEP). All three institutes operate under the auspices of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) from Beijing.

Zhou Hong, Director General of Institute of European Studies, Wu Xian, Director of Centre of EU Studies, Zhang Yunling, Director of Institute of Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies and Research Fellows Jiang LI and Liu Zuokui briefly presented their institutions and their mission. In this context they were particularly interested in possibilities of cooperation with CEP.

Andrej Vrčon, Secretary General of CEP, Milan Jazbec, Head of Policy Planning and Research Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and Tina Ferle, project manager at CEP, presented CEP institution and its mission. Guests have expressed their interest to participate in publications in the new CEP Scientific Journal, entitled European Perspectives, and in the exploration of diplomatic history which is the activities of the Project Group for Studying the Diplomatic History of Central and South-East Europe at CEP. The discussion focused also on the economic transition and the experiences of Slovenia, on the implementation of development assistance, as well as on Slovenia-China relations and China-EU relations.

Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) is one of the most eminent academic research institutions in the field of philosophy and social sciences in China. The Academy, which has more than 3767 on-the-job staff members, was established in 1977 and gathers 31 research institutes and more than 50 research centres.
