Three day Short-Term Election Observation course (STEOC), organized by the Centre for European Perspective in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, concluded successfully today.
19 participants of the STEOC were familiarized with the work on a short-term election observation mission, working conditions, which may face, and how to care for their health and safety when on mission. In addition, procedures for application and selection of candidates for the OSCE and the EU Election Missions, which in Slovenia are coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were presented to them.
On the first day of the Course, H.E. Ambassador Leon Marc, Head of Strategic Studies and Analysis from MFA and dr. Gorazd Justinek, Executive Director of CEP welcomed all the participants. Tamara Otiashvili, from the office ODIHR (Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) presented basic principles and rules of election observation within the OSCE. The experiences from the Core Team member from OSCE observation missions werre presented by Aleška Simkić.
Practical implementation of election observation was presented by Katja Gönc, who has extensive experience with long-term observation missions. She also prepared interesting simulation for the participants, where they were put in the roles of observers on Election Day.
Last day of training was manly devoted to safety and security in the observer mission. Katja Križnar Urbanc, from the MFA familiarized all the participants with the details of the selection process and the application process on election observation mission.
Certificates on the completion of the Course were awarded by Sanja Štiglic, Director General for Global Issues and Multilateral Political Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
PRVO USPOSABLJANJE ZA KRATKOROČNE OPAZOVALCE VOLITEV V SLOVENIJI USPEŠNO ZAKLJUČENO
Danes, 7. maja 2015, se je na gradu Jable uspešno zaključilo tridnevno usposabljanje za kratkoročne opazovalce volitev, ki ga je Center za evropsko prihodnost v sodelovanju z Ministrstvom za zunanje zadeve RS prvič organiziral v Sloveniji.
Na usposabljanju je sodelovalo 19 udeležencev, ki so spoznali delo posameznika na opazovanju volitev in se pripravili na razmere za delo s katerimi se lahko soočijo na misiji, naučili pa so se tudi kako poskrbeti za svojo varnost in zdravje. Seznanili so se tudi s postopkom prijave in izbire kandidatov za OVSE in EU misije opazovanja volitev, ki jih v Sloveniji koordinira Ministrstvo za zunanje zadeve.
Prvi dan usposabljanja sta zbrane pozdravila veleposlanik Leon Marc, vodja Službe za strateške študije in analize ter dr. Gorazd Justinek, izvršni direktor Centra za evropsko prihodnost. Tamara Otiashvili iz pisarne ODIHR (Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) je udeležence seznanila s temeljnimi načeli in pravili opazovanja volitev v okviru OVSE. Svoje izkušnje kot članica temeljne ekipe (angl. core team) pri OVSE misijah je predstavila Aleška Simkić.
Praktično izvedbo opazovanja volitev je predstavila Katja Gönc, ki ima bogate izkušnje z dolgoročnih opazovalnih misij. Za udeležence je pripravila zanimive simulacije, kjer so se udeleženci preizkusili v vlogi opazovalcev na dan volitev.
Zadnji dan usposabljanja je bil posvečen predvsem temi varnosti in zaščiti na opazovalni misiji, Katja Križnar Urbanc z Ministrstva za zunanje zadeve pa je vse zbrane seznanila s podrobnostmi izbirnega postopka in postopkom prijave na misije za opazovanje volitev.
Certifikate o opravljenem usposabljanju je udeležencem podelila Sanja Štiglic, generalna direktorica za globalne zadeve in politično multilateralo na Ministrstvu za zunanje zadeve.






Glavni namen usposabljanja je udeležencem približati delo na kratkoročnem opazovanju volitev, jih pripraviti na razmere za delo, s katerimi se lahko soočijo ter jih naučiti kako poskrbeti za svojo varnost in zdravje. Three and a half day interactive training for local staff, who work in international organizations in Kosovo successfully completed today and it was first training of that kind for local staff in Kosovo within the framework of ENTRi consortium.
Practical and interactive training in Banja Luka Today in Banja Luka, which aimed to increase the protection of children in the justice system of the Republic of Srpska, completed today. Training is the result of good cooperation between the CEP and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Sprska.
dr. Gorazd Justinek, Executive Director of the Centre for European Perspective with his lecture informed students and other visitors about the European Year for Development 2015. He also talked about the role of foreign policy and the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in international development aid. Furthermore, he also addressed international development aid provided by Slovenia to the beneficiary countries and presented activities of the Centre for European Perspective in the context of international development cooperation.
Today, on 16 April 2015, training for the protection of children in the justice system of the Republic of Sprska began. It focuses on protecting children who find themselves in the cogs of justice, either as victims or as witnesses, and on techniques for conducting interviews with them.
A three and a half day training for local staff members, working in international organisations in Kosovo, has started today in Pristina. The course is organised by the Centre for European Perspective (CEP), together with the Scuola Superiore Sant’ Anna (SSSUP) from Italy in the ENTRi framework.

On the occasion of the official visit of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the republic of Turkey, a bench of peace and friendship was placed at the Jable castle on 30 March 2015. The bench symbolises friendly relationships between the two nations, with no open questions and CEP Team is honoured to have it at the Jable castle.
