REGIONAL TRAINING FOR WESTERN BALKAN COUNTRIES IN COMBATING THE ILLICIT TRAFFICKING OF FIREARMS

PR picThere are still large quantities of weapons stored improperly in the Western Balkans due to the conflicts in the 1990s. These weapons often end up in the hands of criminal gangs, which resell them through established trafficking routes into the EU countries. Increasingly pressing problem is the acquisition and use of these weapons by terrorist groups and related extremist movements.

CEP continues assistance to veterinary laboratories in BiH

DSCN0894Within the project of CEP entitled "Help to Bosnia and Herzegovina to establish European Union standards in the field of safe and quality food" and International developmental cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, a laboratory training will be organised from 27th to 29th October 2014 at the JU Veterinarski institut of the Republic of Srpska "Dr Vaso Butozan" of Banja Luka and from 5th to 7th November 2014 at the JU Veterinarski zavod Bihać of Bihać. The scope of a training of the five home analysts will be in Banja Luka introduction and validation of the analytical method for determination of tetracyclines in milk, using high performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometric detection (LC-MS/MS), and in Bihać introduction and validation of the analytical method for determination of nitrofurane metabolites i.e. AOZ, AMOZ, AHD and SEM in eggs, using ELISA test. The training will be performed by Vesna Cerkvenik Flajs, PhD.
