ENTRi Training of Trainers Workshop successfully finished

ToT 2014 2Centre for European Perspective is proud that it became a hub of training experts and facilitators on international crisis management trainings for 4 days.

20 experienced training officers and facilitators have discussed about various course methods that facilitate best results. Participants have learned how adult learning theory can be applied to design high impact sessions, how personal preferences influence our ability to learn, widely practiced participatory training methods that can be easily applied to ENTRi trainings and delivered constructive ideas and suggestion for development of training of trainer's template that will be easily applied to various training institutions.

All attended agreed that training was very successful, that activities practiced will be gladly used in redesigning of existing trainings and that cooperation among ENTRi partners will become even more intense. This was one of rare opportunities that participants have time to discuss personal preferences, opinions and practice at the same time newly presented techniques. Informal ties have become even stronger, which is great basis for further cooperation and development of new trainings under ENTRi umbrella. This was also first and very fruitful cooperation between ENTRi and UN - OCHA.

Group was composed of training experts representing training organizations from Austria (ASPR), Belgium (ESDC), Denmark (Danish Police), Egypt (CCCPA), Finland (CMC), Germany (ZIF), Hungary (Hungarian Police), Italy (SSSUP), the Netherlands (Clingendale Institute), Sweden (FBA and Swedish Police). Additionally, two European Union CSDP Missions were represented, namely EULEX from Kosovo and EUMM from Georgia.

Slovenia was represented by Slovenian Police and Centre for European Perspective.

Round Table on Importance of Training in the Field of Crisis Management

DSCN1602

Centre for European Perspective organised a round table on importance of training in the field of civilian crisis management. Round table was organised as a starting activity before the pilot Train-the-Trainer course, which is co-organised in the ENTRi framework by CMC Finland and CEP Slovenia, together with expert trainers of UN OCHA.

Civilian crisis management is a relatively new approach to international crisis management, first introduced in 2000. Well-prepared personnel are of utmost importance in ensuring successful civilian crisis management and stabilisation-type missions. Capacity development does not only mean reaching sufficient quantities of personnel, but also ensuring their quality and interoperability. Training activities target the range of individual needs associated with deployment and support missions in fulfilling their mandate adequately and efficiently.

Round table was organised as an interactive discussion among different training providers in Slovenia and abroad in order to discuss aspects of training within different organisations, ministries and other structures for their staff, deployed to crisis management missions. These events are also an important opportunity to exchange lessons learnt, best practices and different experience among training providers. It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Defence of Slovenia, European Security and Defence College (ESDC), ENTRi, CMC Finland, FBA Sweden, ASPR Austria, EULEX Kosovo and EUMM Georgia, Danish, Slovenian, Hungarian and Swedish Police representatives as well as others.
