Empowering Kosovo’s Young Entrepreneurs, Interview

IMG 20160511 172356Between 11th and 13th of May 2016 20 young people from Kosovo have participated at Podim, an international conference in Maribor, as part of the training for young entrepreneurs. Participants were selected based on an application in which they presented their start-up, while a group of experts has assessed the originality of the idea and its presentation; 8 teams from Kosovo were chosen to participate. Podim has concluded by selection of a start-up of the year and one of our young teams, HUM – Zag App did a great job and has made it to the semi-finals. We conducted a short interview with one of its members.

Slovenia supports Serbia to increase transparency in functioning of the state

slovenija srbije zastave 660x330On its path of accomplishing criteria for EU membership, Serbia has firmly addressed issues which will increase transparency of public administration and reduce risk of corruption and other irregularities. The determination to reach concrete results in this area Serbia also showed by expressing interest for support of Slovenia in establishment of the system for simple review of financial transactions of the state in the framework of the international development assistance which Republic of Slovenia devotes to the Republic of Serbia. Meetings will be conducted from 6 to 7 June 2016 with high representatives of the state authorities with the purpose of the production of the analysis of the baseline situation.

Balkans IECEU round table discussion of experts

IMG 1122Centre for European Perspective (CEP), University of Ljubljana (Faculty of Social Sciences) and the Finnish Defence Forces International Center (FINCENT) organised a Balkans IECEU round table discussion of experts on 24 May 2016 at CEP premises in Slovenia.

Project Improving the Effectiveness of Capabilities in EU Conflict Prevention - IECEU aims to identify best practices and lessons learned in CSDP missions and operations as well as to provide a catalogue of best practices, new solutions and approaches, which will be at the end of the project presented to the relevant institutions of the EU, member states, training community and other stakeholders.

Round Table on “Electoral Standards and the Electoral Process improvement in Belarus” took place in Minsk yesterday

IMG 20160518 132614The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Centre for European Perspective organised round table on Electoral Standards and the Electoral Process improvement in Belarus that took place in Minsk on 18 May 2016. This is the first cooperation of Slovenia and Belarus in the scope of Slovenian Development Cooperation.

Roundtable on »Improving electoral standards and the electoral process in Belarus«

ceplogorgbBilateral relations between the European Union (EU) and Belarus began in 1991, when the EU formally recognized the independence of Belarus. In 1995, they signed the Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation that was established to regulate the mutual political and economic relations. As of the political situation in Belarus since 1997, this agreement remains frozen. EU had as well introduced a number of sanctions towards Belarus. The release of political prisoners and the execution of the presidential elections in non-violent environment in Belarus in 2015, resulted in the warming of EU-Belarus relations. EU eased some sanctions against Belarus, which relate to the freezing of assets, travel ban and trade and financial restrictions as well. EU conditions the complete withdrawal of sanctions on improving the situation of human rights and democratic elections in Belarus.
