CEP is organizing HEAT - Hostile Environment Awareness Training in October

CEP ENTRi HEAT 2012 - spletHostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) is an intensive four days course aiming to train professionals to deal effectively with risks-associated and emergency/critical situations while deployed in hostile environments abroad. The course is intended for people who have little experience of working in conflict area to understand the required behavioural requirements.

The Course is designed to:
• improve participants knowledge about multiple threats present in hostile environments and to learn how to deal with them in an effective manner;
• rehearse and practice safety and security procedures accordingly with the specific threat;
• trigger individual skill dealing with different stressful situations;
• trigger group dynamics dealing with multiple stressful situations.

Training is composed of five modules. Activities include lectures, guided discussions, role plays and simulations. Trainees will be talking about being deployed in hostile environment (threat awareness and management of various threats, etc), medical help (vaccinations, personal hygiene, first aid), orientation, communications (GPS, radio, satellite phone) and off road vehicles driving. Practical activities and one day field simulation will be dedicated to practicing newly gained skills and will intentionally expose trainees to situations they are likely to encounter in the mission.

Training is organised by the Centre for European Perspective in cooperation with the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) from Sweden, Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia, Slovenian Police and Slovenian Armed Forces.

DATE and LOCATION

Training will be held between 19 and 23 October 2015 at the Police Training Centre Gotenica. Gotenica is a training village with all needed facilities and full board accommodation for all participants.

All participants need to have a valid driving license which is needed in order to drive with 4x4 vehicles.

COSTS

Trainees cover their costs of transportation to Ljubljana.
Organizers are covering training and full board accommodation during the training.

 

Kick off meeting of a Horizon2020 project, launched in May 2015, taking place in Brussels on 16 and 17 June: IECEU - Improving the Effectiveness of Capabilities in EU conflict prevention

H2020The new project IECEU started in the beginning of May 2015 and will last until end of February 2018 (33 months). IECEU -project aims towards enchancement of European Union (EU) external activities. The consortium is coordinated by Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and consists of a diverse group of civilian, research and military organisations reflecting the variety within EU missions. The overall goal of the project is to find out new approaches and solutions to respond to the future challenges and threats.

Centre for European Perspective (CEP) is organising, in cooperation with Slovenian Ministry of the Interior and Slovenian Police, a training for 20 representatives of Kosovo Border Police.

20150615 093343The aim of the project, which began with a study visit in November 2013, is strengthening of Kosovo institutions in the field of integrated border management in accordance with EU directives. Five representatives of Slovenian border police management will present Slovenian best practices in the field of efficient implementation of border control, cooperation among different actors in the framework of IBM, cross border cooperation and illegal migration, all topics which belong into priority areas for fulfilment of demands set in the European Commission's Roadmap for visa liberalisation for Kosovo. Kosovo has achieved a great progress in this field in the recent years, therefore the focus of the training will be on the practical implementation of the already adopted legal framework. Training will be practical in nature since experts will advise the participants based on the practical presentation of border surveillance activities at the border crossing with Macedonia (Hani i Eelezit).

Slovenia is supporting Macedonia in fight against organised crime

20150602 105503Slovenia is supporting Macedonia in the fight against organised crime in 2015 through the development assistance project implemented by the Centre for European Perspective, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Slovenia. In the framework of the project a workshop took place in Macedonia between 1 and 4 June 2015 between leadership of criminal police of Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Slovenia where exchange of experience of planning efficient measures against organised crime took place as well as regarding changes in the functioning of criminal police due to the EU accession. The workshop’s concept was practical, with examination of planning of criminal police work through concrete examples of strategic documents, cases of trafficking of human being, corruption, illegal drugs, financial investigations, information flow and other issues of interest for effective fight against organised crime.
